Munich Ladies Choir
Welcome to the Munich Ladies Choir. For over 20 years the ladies have met weekly to sing together and have fun. We like to not only in English but also German, French, Spanish and other languages. We enjoy all kinds of music from English folk song to German Schlager, old pop songs and songs from the musicals, and the occasional classical piece.
Rehearsals take place at the Hort of the Implerschule, Implerstraße 35, every Wednesday during school term from 6.15 to 8.30 p.m. Our practice room is on the ground floor, labelled “E.T.” (Essen und Trinken). You will know it from the laughter coming from inside.
Our rehearsals last two hours: after a gentle fifteen minute warm up our conductor, Andrew Morris, carefully takes us through some of the pieces in our repertoire, helping to master the melody and bring expression into the song. We like to sing in two parts (Soprano, Alto) or three parts (Soprano 1, Soprano2, Alto) so there is always a part which fits comfortably to your range. It’s important to have fun, and some of the things we do may seem a bit silly, but it’s important so that you voice becomes freer and less self conscious. Sometimes Andrew may make us work a little harder if he thinks it will push us forward. We work in English and German so you will have no trouble following what is going on.
• Because you can’t sing in harmony on your own in the bath!
• Perhaps you have little choir experience and would like to learn.
• Perhaps you have sung before but want something more relaxed.
• Perhaps you like singing in English.
• Perhaps you’d like to learn to sing in English. Singing is the best way to improve your pronunciation.
• Maybe you like meeting new people
Andrew Morris comes from London and has lived in Munich for 10 years. He studied music specializing in violin and later studied singing. He says “I like to teach people how to be comfortable and confident with their voices. To bring out the strengths that everyone can find”
